The Boys & Girls Clubs North Central LA was founded in December 1997. The first unit opened was the Eddie Robinson Unit in Grambling LA. The need for extensive facility repairs prompted the club to relocate to Ruston, LA. where it was housed at a local church and then moved to its present location of 300 Memorial Dr. Since its humble beginnings and thanks to the hard work and commitment of its board members, the club has seen a 300% increase in daily attendance, annual number of youth served, and community awareness and support.
While the successes are great, the demand is even greater; the club has been at its programming capacity for the last several years and has had to create a waiting list each year. Funding and space are the primary challenges faced by the club in its efforts to serve area youth. Despite affiliation with the national Boys & Girls Clubs of America, each club is responsible for raising its own funds. The club members and staff are dependent upon the local community to give in support of the many proven worthwhile programs and activities provided.
The Board of Directors has committed to developing a board that has the ability to use its resources and influence to meet the growing demands. The number of board members has increased and the level of participation has also improved. Community awareness is on the rise which has in turn lead to an increase in the donor base and contributions.
Our organization is growing and we are always looking for help and volunteers to aid in our after school programs. The addition of meaningful and impeccably stylistic animation engages users on a completely different level.Donate
